Sorrell Tiles

Laser-etched tiles that cut through only the glaze – and no more.

Working closely with Cut-Laser-Cut in Vauxhall, we tweaked and tuned their lasers to cut through only the glaze of the tile. The result is subtle, to say the least, but when caught in the right light, it produces a beautiful matt/gloss contrast.

Commissioned by artist Richard Sorrell, we took his party-scene sketches and made an unobtrusive frieze around a kitchen work surface. The full set comprises 10 drawings/tiles, available as a set or individually.
