Copper Shade

Copper is a perpetually evolving material.

Upon exposure to air, copper transitions from a lustrous shine to a subdued matte finish, and eventually develops a distinctive green patina. Its value fluctuates ceaselessly on the global metals market. And, as one of the most pliable of metals, copper lends itself to an array of shapes and applications.

I wanted to devise a design that mirrors the inherent variability of copper.

Each Copper Lamp has its own distinct character yet adheres to an identical count of bends and lengths. Beginning as a symmetrical two-dimensional structure, every joint is then randomly oriented, giving rise to a truly unique three-dimensional piece.
